Two major programs of the African Diaspora Medical Project are Open Arms and Hands to Hands. Open Arms is a program created in response to the large numbers of orphans in Africa who have lost parents to disease, poverty, and inadequate health care. UNICEF estimates that AIDS alone will orphan over 15 million children in the next few years. Hands to Hands is a network that supplies African health facilities with medicines, medical supplies, and medical equipment.
